Mohd. Najib's time is running out.

  By Toffee
28 July 2011

He'll sure remember this song, it was from his time and it was an Elvis Number, "It's now or never" and those 4 words hold a lot of meaning to Mohd. Najib now more then it ever did.

Najib Tun Abdul Razak is going in for a big shock, it may even be the cause of Mahathir Mohammed suffering a severe  heart attack, I would not want to speculate more on that score,  and to avoid that he -Najib, has to be extra careful in the selection of who stands where, in the next General Elections, not in the component parties but particularly in UMNO as deals have been struck to dump him come the next elections.

This should not come as a shock to many  Malaysians, as he was not really the rightful heir to the position of Prime Minister when Badawi was moved aside. For the "RAHMAN" equation to have been settled it had to be someone whose name began with the alphabet "N" but what the entire country forgot is that his name began with a "M" his name is Mohd. Najib.

UMNO insiders close to Najib  say Mahahtir  was aware of this and as such worried that Badawi who had removed Rafidah Aziz would  do the same to Najib and Muhyuddin and replace them with Nazri to remain Prime Minsiter for the long term.

Now as some superstitious UMNO people are talking, because of what has happened they say, the next cycle has begun prematurely, and the new  equation is "MAHATHIR"  he - Najib,  has occupied the "M" prematurely and as such the next PM's name will begin with an "A" and that should mean Anwar Ibrahim they believe..

Some UMNO circles believe that Anwar is the ordained one to become Prime Minister, they say if he does not this nation is doomed, this belief is not only confined to  those who have left UMNO but with  many who remain there, and they hold firm to the fact that Anwar will be back because that is his destiny, they even go as far as saying that is why the entire "RAHMAN" equation fell apart, it is a curse they say and that is a sign for all  the Malays.

So will Anwar become our next Prime Minister?

Within UMNO there is talk about who should be dumped come the next elections, and overtures have been made by existing members from UMNO to cross over. Najib has actually got a Hobson's choice to deal with, he may have to  take all the people aligned with Muhyuddin or face the wrath of Muhyuddin's supporters, if he does that then he has to reckon with his own supporters who do not support Muhyuddin and of course he has the Kuli factor to deal with too, poor Najib.

Going it alone he does not have too much choice, he lacks the ground support Muhyuddin has raked in during Najib's tenure as PM.

Now to add insult to injury both in Sarawak and Sabah there are potential candidates who know that the only way to serve their people is to go with the opposition, they now reside in the BN fold and are awaiting their time.

The opposition have learned their lesson from the last elections and the elections when Semangat and PBS had a coalition so, now they have decided to play it cool and quiet, and  whilst Najib goes on his rampage of the opposition = the opposition is on a quiet rampage of  the BN themselves in a vote us or vote them it does not make a difference campaign in the Eastern corridor.

Doubtful seats like Sungei Siput have been strengthened for the opposition with the detention of their MP under the EO. Neutrals are moving to the opposition as Najib together with his not so intelligent cousin tries all the wrong things in desperation.

Surprising though the UMNO's intelligence unit that used to garner all the information for their bosses  and keep them  fully appraised of such situations does not seem to be that intelligent anymore, the people are not giving them the news they once used to acquire so easily. Now it seems they are more preoccupied with finding out what Ambiga is after next and all intelligence is lacking in the handling of the situations that arise.

It could also mean that UMNO intelligence reports are being channeled to others in UMNO and not the Najib camp.

If UMNO was shocked by the results of the last elections the next one  is going to be a disaster, a complete disaster.

The Rosmah Factor
Picture before plastics
Perhaps the biggest ace up Muhyuddin's sleeve is Rosmah.

This  self proclaimed "First Lady," is being touted as a woman who does not know her  place. The Malays in  general, are disgusted with her behaviour and this could be Najib's biggest mistake, his inability as a Malay husband to keep her in place so they say.

Rosmah is being equated with Maria Antoinette and Imelda Marcos.

Ministers and deputy ministers have to Kow Tow to her every needs, the minister of foreign affairs is made to look like her assistant at times., and whist she goes on making many in UMNO angry to Muhyuddin's delight, his supporters highlight  her extravagance, and arrogance to gain more support for Muhyuddin.

Muhyuddin they say has the clout to take on his boss right now, he has enough support to even call and EGM, but Muhyuddin is playing the game the "Malay way," quiet and humble, he will not go in to oust his boss unless his supporters demand that of him, and he is biding his time. When the supporters will make such a call is Muhyuddin's call though, but he can't be seen outwardly to do so, he is a Malay and he unlike many others knows the game pretty well they say. and he will make the call when the time is yellow, ripe I mean.

In desperationthe extent of sending to his cousin the minister of home affairs, the not so intelligent Hishamuddin Hussein Onn, tries to fix things to make Najib look strong and invincible, but instead creates a mess of the situations time and time again.

The handling of the Bersih Rally, the deportation of the French Lawyer who was here to provide advice  to an NGO on the Scorpene scandal  and attend public dinners to give speeches, which may have  revealed if there was a Najib and Rosmah involvement in it, has given his opponents not only in the opposiiton but UMNO as well a lot of reason to get the people to doubt his integrity..

The action of the Trio on the alleged sex scandal involving Anwar Ibrahim the doctored video, which the government went to extraordinary lengths to prove was authentic, except for the fact that the man in the tape was not Anwar Ibrahim  has put a huge dent into the credibility of the Prime Minister. Even die hard UMNO supporters were shocked to the extent the Trio went to, and Najib's support for them turned many against him. Neither he, the Trio and even Anwar for that matter realise the amount of support it has taken away from the Malays for Najib and UMNO.

In Kedah the resentment of UMNO grows by the day, it is said that Mukhriz wil like his father in 1969 lose his seat at the next General Elections a move engineered by both the Muhyuddin and the Najib camps, to keep Mahathir and Mukhriz away from aany aspirations to become PM soon, both of them hope to be there for the long haul and Mukhriz is seen as an irritant, the ground work has already begun and Mukhriz looks like he is being prepared for the slaughter.

Najib has to take action and he has to take it fast, time is not on his side, and if he is thinking of retaining his position which he may be able to do with a much thinner majority though, he has call for an elections as soon as possible.

For Najib  the time is ripe for elections and like most fruits Ripe is Yellow.

Time for Najib to start working

Attitudinal difference to be noted;
Norway's Prime Minister Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg said today, "Response to attacks will be more democracy."
Compare that with what we get, no democracy, No  Attacks but  the ISA and other illegal detention of innocent people here  in Malaysia.

In the aftermath of the successful Bersih Rally, and even whilst it was work in progress, our Honourable  Prime Minister was addressing UMNO members in Putraya and threatening the citizens of this country,  warning them that he could unleash  3 million people from the ranks of the UMNO membership to rally in KL.

What was he insinuating anyway?

That despite the fact that he said rallies were illegal it was alright for UMNO to do it?

Was he also telling us that he could let UMNO go on a rampage in KL to intimidate the rest of us?

What exactly   were his reasons for doing so?

So that he could still dictate to the elections commission to do what he wants them to do, and that we have to live with the irregularities of the work of  the elections commission time and time again, so that UMNO can rule unabated?

That UMNO could rally in Kuala Lumpur without Police Permit, well that we all know they have been doing it over and over again under police protection.

I think Cameron was wrong when he asked Najib not to go the way of Mubarak.

Mubarak could have taken aa lesson from him on how to be an effective dictator, after all he has a mentor in Mahathir Mohammed and I think the likes of Mubarak and Gaddafi will look like novices compared to him.

Now on his return he has been doing nothing but intimidate and threaten people, either directly or indirectly. When his police force does something he is responsible, when his Minister of Home Affairs does something he is responsible, when his deputy Prime Minister does something he is responsible and that is why he is their boss.

People were arrested just  for wearing yellow and seeking to hand over a memorandum on the Bersih 2.0 demands to him, what utter nonsense, is this the behaviour of a Prime Minsiter in a democratic country?

He was out with his deputy to distribute the national flag to people, hasn't he got more productive duties to attend to.

Time would  have been better spent if he was  to the   MACC to ensure they are on top of corruption cases.

Can he shed some light on the ongoing investigations being carried out by the MACC if there are any?

Can he tell us what he proposes to do after the death by two persons in the MACC offices to ensure no such thing happens in future?

Can he tell us what he is doing to ensure that corruption does not cause hardships to the ordinary folk?

Can he explain the sudden rise of the price so sugar after it was taken over from Robert Kuok?

Can he tell us what impact will fighting corruption have on the national economy?

Can he re-look the scorpene case where a company owned by his wife was beneficiary of a huge commission?

An then we have the case today  of of a lady being arrested, handcuffed, even whilst the doctors were administering stress ECG on her and even though there was  request to remove the cuffs. We all know that when and  ECG is being conducted we should remove all metal objects from  our person, watches even the wedding ring. If the lady dies of heat attack Hishamuddin will come out and shout and swear thet the ECG conducted on her was A Okay.

Does this Prime Minister ever carry out his Prime Ministerial duties, he looks like a chicken without a neck, running and reacting at everything. He seems to be  extremely defensive in the face of criticism  and  instead of listening to  it,  trying to work on it to show the people he cares, he retaliates, threatens and uses his police force to intimidate.

This has to stop, this country needs to be managed, chasing Bona Fide tourists from friendly nations will not solve problems, if indeed he has nothing to hide he should roll the red carpet out for the French lawyer Bourden, because if indeed he has nothing to hide Bourden will vindicate this man Najib, hsi wife and his friend and he will become the nations hero.

In the Altantuya case many pertinent questions were left unanswered, the appointment of the unqualified consultants, the fact that Altantya's immigration records of entry into Malaysia mysteriously disappeared, his role in the whole issue being the Minister of Defense at the material time, and now to drive Bourden away he only makes himself look more suspect.

Why is the ministry of home affairs run by his beloved cousin, so selective, how many Consultants have come here to advice the government and in the course of their work on short visits with a regular visitors pass, why was Bourden individually selected for this honour of being kicked out for "violating the terms of his visa" ?

There are so many issues at hand, prices are spiraling, prices of essential commodities have sky rocketed, price of houses have gone up that it is almost impossible for our working young to afford one, and even if they can it is on a 35 to 37 year loan? He does not seem to be aware of this, he is sitting in the cosy surroundings of Putrajaya and affords the best for his wife he does not understand why people have to be so dissatisfied. The latest alleged Diamond ring saga only adds fuel to this fire surely with a commission anyone could afford such a ring.

Mr. Prime Minister your people are affected, and affected badly, sit up and take notice, stop threatening, stop warning, do something positive  instead.

We  have rights  and so as Prime Minisiter ensure that our  rights enshrined in the Federal Constitution are respected.  That responsibility falls squarely on your shoulders, as Prime Minster of this country.

In short do your work please that's what you are there for or could we have Abdullah Ahmad Badawi Back till you head the elections to rightfully get that position of Prime Minister.

 ELECTIONS THE TIME IS RIPE!!!!

THE TIME IS RIPE AND RIPE IS YELLOW

Oh!!! how unbelievably wonderful and caring a PM we must have.

He canceled a holiday to come and be with the Rakyat, and on his  arrival he was whisked off to a school, then he received  one million signatures from the "rakyat" supporting him, many of whom are so faithful to him and ignorant of their own surroundings they did not even know what they were signing.

Why did Najib suddenly cancel this holiday?

Why this urgent need to show one million supporters?

And  if indeed that is the case then time is ripe for him to call elections and he must,  because opportune time like a fruit,  will only become rotten the longer he waits.

In the backdrop is  UMNO, and there  a conspiracy is being hatched, there are people who are impatient, they can't afford for Najib to bide his time as PM, he has to move out fast to make room for them, after all they have ambitions too, but then  Najib  has   not even had a full term yet, in fact he can't even claim this term as his own,  as it was not a term given to him by popular mandate, it was acquired from Badawi, so he is more like an "acting PM thus far," and not a real PM - as a deputy he stepped in, the President Ford type, and I wonder if he is actually going to be the President Ford type, this one borrowed term and then dumped off  for good, a stop gap PM.

Mahahthir has gone eerily silent, you'll notice that after the period I wrote on "Umno under attack from within" Mahathir has been silent and so too his son Mukhriz.

Muhyuddin also seems quiet, what I wrote about did not come from me but from sources within UMNO, and I must admit most of it was acquired from third parties, people who are close with top  people in UMNO.

My sources the 'third parties' are from  UMNO, not high up in the hierarchy but whose domain it is to know in order to garner support for their political masters who sit above them,  I am not claiming this eerie silence within UMNO   was because of my article, not at all,  but my article had the real sentiments and if it could have reached me, the whispers must have been awfully loud that Najib would have himself heard them in the corridors of Putrajaya.

Nevertheless  silence  form the opposing camps are getting louder, Najib is dependent on his not so intelligent cousin who time and time again puts Najib into more trouble than he should and being not so intelligent he keeps  thinking he is doing a fabulous job for Najib.

All other UMNO politicians remained aloof during the Bersih campaign, save for Khairy Jamaluddin who has nowhere to go and then of course the head of that UMNO backed NGO,  Perkasa's, Ibrahim Ali.

Rosmah's role in it all is being magnified to Najib's own detriment within  UMNO circles, she is being touted as the wife who does not know her place, and now the magic blue diamond ring has added fuel to fire and the more the opposition or the blogs highlight these issues, it spreads like wild fire within UMNO, by UMNO men, keen on dumping Najib with greater efficiency then they did Badawi.

Nepotism in the Najib camp seems to begin with with the Plastic Rose, and UMNO members are too familiar with the terms, " nepotism, cronyism, and corruption," it was Anwar who taught them that  years ago and now Muhyuddin is putting it to good use, so too is Mukhriz.

Within the corridors of power, within people so close to Najib, they just feel they have to nudge him out and take his place, and it is happening, it is happening in UMNO save for a few faithful, Hishamuddin of course, his minister of  external affairs,  Khairy Jamluddin who has nowhere else  to go, and some others and a few others who  are  the wait and see types - the typical UMNO mentality,  on the other hand there is a strong   inclination of the west coast divisions and   UMNO branches   to back  either Muhyuddin or the Mahathir/Mukhriz camp, if this goes into the open. In Selangor it is said that the Khir Toyo camp are strongly backing Muhyuddin, the want to see Najib off.

Depending on how a deal is struck, it's either Muhyudiin or Najib who will be the sacrificial lamb for Mukhriz to ascend to power. My friends in UMNO tell me that  Najib is the more likely candidate to be forced out, if he remains he may be a force for Mukhriz to reckon with as Najib is looking to be PM for the long term, a term similar to Mahathir's, and whatever the issues in politics are,   as  the cliche goes, "there are no permanent enemies or permanent friends." In this case it is so fluid, we'll have to wait and see how  this played out.

The latest move by the Minister of Home Affairs to detain and deport French lawyer William Bourdon has added another blow to Najib's own credibility and consequently to that of UMNO and the BN, his detractors in UMNO have another bullet to fire at him, and Najib is looking more fragile both from within and without.

It is reported that the Immigration officials in this case  had boarded the plane and arrested Bourdon on  the plane, he was whisked off to the Immigration holding centre and his fiance Lea Foriester, also a lawyer was initially not allowed to accompany him but later was allowed to do so.

Why is a French visitor refused entry into Malaysia,  the home ministry will have the answers for  sure, it will be said that he has violated the terms of his visa, if he was here on a social visit pass, but if he was here on a business visa then I do not think the Ministry  has any grounds to lay that charge as he is a lawyer representing a Malaysian NGO.

Strategically Najib and his boys have a made a miscalculated move, instead of fighting a fire or allowing it to burn out on its own  thy have added fuel  to this fire that  will keep burning for the long term and its effects may burn a gaping hole into Najib's image the very thing his detractors from within and without UMNO are bent on doing.

Bourdon in an email message had this to say, “Everything is okay. I am so sorry to leave my friends; we fly tonight for Paris. Keep in touch, take care and have courage.” This is the lawyer addressing his friends, no more just his clients. Take courage he says (not the English Bitter), implying he'll lead the campaign in France.

It looks like now he -  Bourdon,  has become part of the campaign and not just the lawyer for the campaign.

Najib's practice of nepotism may be his own downfall, this action is an action taken by the Minister of Home Affairs -  Najib's cousin.

Hishamuddin is ultimately responsible for this action, this  is therefore a forgone conclusion as the Immigration Department comes under the purview of the Ministry of home affairs,  it is very possible that he initiated this action, and I am sure by now Najib should know that he can't leave such important decisions to his not so intelligent cousin who heads the Ministry, this is a clear indication of what nepotism does.

Let us leave Hisham aside now and take a closer look at this ongoing investigation in France, and let us see what Bourdon is saying and why is it there was this need to remove Bourden from the plane, detain him for four hours and then put him on another plane and send him back possibly to France?

This French lawyer was due to speak at a fund-raising dinner in Petaling Jaya tonight and at another dinner in Ipoh tomorrow, he had already given a speech to a packed subscription dinner crowd organised by human rights advocacy group Suaram and read what he had to say at that dinner in Penang.

"Despite many obstacles and although such proceedings are complex and difficult, the truth shall emerge in France and we will expose the corruption related to the submarine deal.

ops scorpene dinner 220711 willian bourdonWe will reveal and disclose details on all the beneficiaries. I am confident that Malaysians can overcome difficulties and I wish you courage," he told 600 attendees at the dinner dubbed 'Ops Scorpene'.

The question that every Malaysian should ask now  is,  has the MACC been honest in its probe if ever there was one on this the Scorpene scandal?

Are there details and names that are to be revealed that have  not surfaced all this while through sheer negligence on the part of the MACC or on orders from the top?

Our MACC seems to be the protector of the corrupt, here in Malaysia you can build a yacht in  gold and remain anonymous or so it seems from what was reported. Any Arab Sheik or European or American even the Chinese would come out and boast about a prized possession like that, but why the reason to remain anonymous in this case by what has been reported to be a Malaysian owner?

Does our MACC wait for report on this or do they go and proactively do a search on this to see if this was purchased by corrupt money?

In the Scorpene case is there evidence of kickbacks received by people who now hold high office or people who have held high office and are "untouchables?"

Will there be any revelations to  counter Najib's own claims in this deal? That now seems the more likely issue at hand and that is why this man Bourdon was sent back home for violating his visa.

Are there more details that will link others to Altantuya Sharibu's murder, murder is a premeditated crime and it has to have a motive, will the motive, or circumstances leading to motives be revealed?

Najib's sudden return from a Holiday looks ill timed, even if it was done for the best of reasons, his cousin's action leaves more to be read, he can't take too much for granted, he is left with very little option.

He has to go with the one million signatures as a sign of confidence, and face the rakayt come what may, or be cast out by the nation, UMNO included the very party that is so cruelly planning his own downfall the way he is planning that of the opposition and Anwar Ibrahim in particular.

Mr. Prime Minister, "what goes around comes around,"  and tomorrow they - in UMNO may be saying, "you got what you deserved," and the opposition will say "Justice has been served."

You have no time, Mr. Prime Minister, with your one million signatures you should be confident, with the one million signatures time is ripe, but like I said, "time, like a ripe fruit will get rotten the more you wait on it."

ELECTIONS NOW!!!! DISSOLVE PARLIAMENT NOW!!!!!!! TIME IS RIPE!!!!!

                                               AND RIPE IS YELLOW

The Video Says More (Bersih Rally July 9, 2011)

They say a picture says a thousand words, the video I think says a thousand times a thousand.
The picture below is but of only a section of the people who went to Kuala Lumpur, I was with this group and it was not the biggest there were far bigger groups than this.
Let the video speak about the people, the attendance  and the mood.

They refused us the stadium, We took KL instead

They refused us the  Stadium Merdeka, but inadvertently without even realising it - gave us the whole of  Kuala Lumpur instead.

At the Stadium
I was there at 11.30 a.m.yesterday (12th July) together with about 300 people maybe four hundred at the most,  a small group you could not even call them a crowd, the road leading to the stadium opposite the Chinese Assembly Hall and beside the Old Chinese temple, that road was blocked out with barbed wire, and three Police Federal Reserve Unit (FRU) trucks and about 100 officers,   were parked one behind the other facing us in the direction from the stadium downwards poised to attack anyone who tried force themselves through.

Moving on
I stood there for about half an hour an noticed the crowd thinning down there. I walked towards the old BPR  HQ, (now known as MACC) , I met a young Malay group, they had come from Kedah, one of the boys told me this, "Uncle what is this? In Germany even the Neo Nazis can come out and demonstrate as long as it is done  peacefully, what are these fellows up to? Uncle we Malays are getting embarrassed by  this government and this Ketuanan Melayu and the antics of  fools , we are not fools like they think we are, let us unite and kick them off, that is why we are here from Kedah, we slept in our car," just then the phone rang we got instructions, than  walked towards Petaling street turned right, into Jalan Sultan then walked down further.

At the junction of Jalan Sultan and the road leading to stadium Negara,   right up to Jalan Rodger we saw a sea of people, we joined the group, the whole of Jalan Sultan itself would  have numbered more then 15,000 people, we started moving forward, we saw a group of Dayaks from Sarawak, they had come to join us, then there was a group from Selangor, and shouts of "Hidup Bersih" we continued heading to the other end, there were Malays, Chinese and Indians, and our Orang Asli, it was truly Malaysian, both male and female young and old, more young then old, and that was the promise I saw, the young the future of my country was there, totally involved.

The Groups
We reached the area around Menera May Bank and Pudu Raya there were at least about 20, 000 people there. Separated from us was another group huge group in front of  Tongshin, we knew that in the area along the national Mosque and the area around Hilton and KL Central there was yet another group, our estimates tell us there must have been 200 thousand  maybe 300 thousand people in all, no exaggeration.

Imagine the whole of Jalan Sultan full of people, imagine a huge crowd with no standing room in the area in front of May Bank on the left to Min Ho, and the right to Pudu Raya is that 3,000 people. Jalan Sultan alone would  have 15,000 at the least, it was a sea of people add the crowd in front of Maybank and Jalan Rodger, and that is only one group by my reckoning.

They were shouting "Hidup Bersih" I lent my voice, to it, whenever someone started it the whole crowd followed. They were shouting down with SPR the whole crowd responded, it was jubilant, they did not give us the stadium we took KL instead.

I am a subscriber of Malaysiakini and I say their estimates were wrong, their lack of resources may be telling,  that would have been the UMNO group and I did not see even one of them around., but did hear they were around in two small pockets.

A Sudden Fear So No Stadium
Talking about the stadium after the Agung had told us we could use a stadium, an Najib said we could have the stadium his cousin got wise and came and threw the spanner into the works ande said that we would not be given the stadium, Rais Yatim echoed his views when he said we'll not get any stadium.

Tactically this was a right BN move to benefit only the BN, because it is the truth, and the plain truth that the stadium Merdeka would  have been too small for this group, and if it was held in the stadium the truth of the numbers would be told. Merdeka Stadium can take a maximum capacity of 35,000, then there is the field itself, which can take maybe 10,000 or more the rest would have to spill out and the BN's  lies about numbers will be exposed.

At the 11th hour that is on the 8th Hishamuddin offered to allow us the use of Shah Alam stadium, then at almost the 12th hour his police forces shut down Shah Alam, the Shah Alam Stadium with a capacity of about 100,000 including the playing field would not have been enough that would have  compounded the problems for the BN, not withstanding that  this rally has done that already stadium or not.

Their plans for elections are now on hold after seeing this response, this is terrifying, Najib looks like he will suffer greater loses and Muhyuddin is laughing behind the scenes, Mahathir is laying out the plans for the elevation of his son Mukhriz.

Police Action
If there was a security problem it was caused by the police and the government's propaganda nothing else. The people were peaceful, there were brave shopkeepers who opened their shops and even smiled and waved at us and waved us on, they did not fall victim to these idiots. The crowd was peaceful, the police shoukld have been used to help the crowd and the whole of KL would have thrived with the influx of so many people.

Fast food outlets did roving business, eateries ran out of  food, news vendors ran out of bottled water.

The Tourist

Tourists mingled with us, one of them told me,"I woke up to a deserted country and I saw police all  around the streets,  I thought it was a kind of coup detat,  now I see a carnival atmosphere, with so many people, what's the celebration, have you overthrown the government?"

I replied, "watch we're on our way to."

They shut down KL the police were everywhere from Klang to KL, the railway halts from Klang to KL were manned by Police wanting to know where we we going, the federal highway was blocked, the Kesas was blocked the NKVE was blocked, and KL was filled with Police - the FRU, the normal day to day mata mata, and the traffic cops, yet all these two hundred to three hundred thousand went into KL.

The leaders were arrested, Ambiga, Anwar, Kit Siang Anwar's daughters, Haidi, but the people behaved, they carried on new leaders emerged from the midst,  this is Malaysia I said, no need to say one when we are one, it's people who are unsure, and people  who are not and a people who  refuse to be one that sell slogans like one Malaysia.

The PAS men who directed us were excellent.

The section of the crowd that I was in got sprayed, and gassed, the tear gas gets into your lungs and you really gasp for breath, the eye irritation is not so bad, the water was itchy, the rains came it rained heavily, it was really god sent, it saved our skins from the laced liquid I suppose, it was a good experience next time I'll try a bigger dosage.

A relative of mine, in my age bracket too - Allen Lopes, was  with another group, he sent me a message this morning  it reads,   "I was there too Toffee. a day I shall cherish for the rest of my life - tear gas and showers of blessing not withstanding," That really sums up yesterday.

I am prepared for more, you must be prepared for more too, if nothing changes, the mood to change what others think are unchangeable has crept in to stay and grow.

My Tribute to Organizers Participants

To Bersih and the political parties who rallied to Bersih's call my sincere appreciation. Special thanks to Ambiga, Marina Chin Abdullah and the Bersih staff for the leadership, to the heads of the opposition and especially DSAI, Lim Kit Siang, Haidi Awang, Anwars daughters who were caught and detained as a threat to internal order, my appreciation.

To the Police force if two feeble young girls could threaten you, I realise where you really are being threatened from, you are being threatened from people who openly call for violent reactions,  their backers and instigators, that is where your real fear is, now I know. When will you have the guts to arrest Ibrahim Ali for all those instigation.

And lastly for you the young, the middle aged the old who were there,  I salute you, like I saluted the National flag on 31st August 1957 at the Klang Town padang in my Boy Cub uniform and sang the Negara Ku, I learned the song from my scout master Mr. George Michael before Merdeka, I sang it before Merdeka, I  sang it again on Merdeka Day, and I doubt even Najib can claim that.

I Walk Today and,Why I must Walk

 By Toffeesturn

Yes my dear friends, and fellow Malaysians,  I am going to the rally today, and this has been one of the reasons I have not written for a while - it is all because of today.

Today is an important day for me, because today I am going to Kuala Lumpur with only one thing on my mind the future of my beloved country for the sake of my children, your children, and our children's children.

In the seventies I went to England, and I returned even though a lot of people told me I was doing a foolish thing, they asked me to stay on, some of them are still there, some of them are back and  some of them have died. I have never regretted my decision to return, I love my country.

I lived the history of this country since Merdeka.

I was there in the Klang Padang on 31st October 1957, in my Boy Cub uniform, it was the first time I met with the Scout Commissioner of the time in Klang one Mr. Jolly Cho who came and shook hands with me, scouts and cubs used to shake hands with  the left hand then.

I saluted the flag of my country when it was hoisted in the town padang on that historic day, and I sang the Negara Ku.

I learned and sang the Negara Ku even before independence, I wonder how many of you did, I wonder even if Najib & Rosmah  can boast of that,  it was taught to me by my cub master one Mr. George Michael, he is still alive today.

Later in my schooling years there was a a Malay teacher who taught me, his name is Onn Bin Ismail, he later went to become an UMNO state assemblyman, he taught me the State Anthem, and I have written about it in one of my letters to Malaysiakini and they corrected my lyrics, they were wrong as there was an old anthem, it was the old State Anthem and it began like this, " Allah Selamatkan Duli Yang Maha Mulia, Kekal dan Selamat di atas thakhta, panjangkan umor...."

Later in life this same party the UMNO declared that it was wrong form us to use the word Allah, but I used at that time in school, it was taught to me by Onn Bin Ismail he was my cikgu and later an UMNO strongman, he was one of those who camped in Harun Idris house when the police went to arrest Harun, trying to prevent it, if you remember.

We  had good leaders then, it was the Tengku, Khir Johari, we had Sardon Jubir, Tun Dr.  Ismail, Dr. Lim Swee Aun from Taiping my birthplace, Wong Pow Nee these were gentlemen.

We used to have minggu Bahasa Kebangsaan, we used to sing the "Bahasa Jiwa Bangs"
all these patriotic songs we were once taught and use to once sing have  all been removed, removed during the Mahaterian era, because that man had a selfish agenda for himself, the agenda began with dividing the nation and like Hitler trying to create a superior race.

We allowed him that and ruined our country and when one man came out and told the county enough was enough, we had to put a stop to corruption, nepotism and cronyism he was charged with sodomy and thrown behind bars.

All charges were trumped up, as later the courts would absolve this man Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim only for the farce to re surface under a different Prime Minister for what are apparently the same reasons, DSAI  is dangerous, what will ahppen to the corrupt if he comes to power.

A few days ago I received a letter from my sister in Germany, the contents of which I shall reveal here,

"Toffee, please re-think this.

You know how the government can play dirty and they don't mind walking over dead bodies to show who is boss.

I really am afraid that with foul means they will try and cause riots in such a way that they can put the blame on the demonstrators and then they'll march in and destroy everything in their wake at random.

Toffee, you have a wife, two children, two children in law and three lovely grandchildren who need and love you.

Re-think your decision. Keith, Ju ,Margie please try and keep him back.

I'm afraid for him. I really feel ashamed to be telling you to do this, I suppose I'm getting old, but I can't bear to think of anyone hurting you.

Remember your government knows how others have  successfully caused overthrows elsewhere and they are good students." ......... Noreen

Dear Noreen and everybody else,

I am as politically minded as anyone else, I know when to be careful and I also know that when it comes to the interest of my wife and children and their children I'll throw caution to the wind.

It is for those reasons you mention above and only those reasons why I will be at the Bersih Rally come July 9 and no one will stop me, that is my decision and my decision alone.

I have been politically active as matter of interest,it probably runs in the blood.

This is not politics, this is life itself, and no human being must or should be treated as a second class being, you went to England to do Nusing and that gave daddy his heart attack, because your friend  got a schorlarship and admission to the University Malaya even though she got a Statement and you had a full pass,  and all that was because of race. I stayed back accepted it and fought for my place.

Daddy wanted you do to do law, you went for nursing, he told Sapanee that day, "why did she have to do HSC to do this thing" and as you were leaving the door that day he said,"I do not know if I'll see her again."

(That was only a few days before May 13 1969).

I remember that  as if it was yesterday.

Yes that was yesterday, today it is even worse, it has got down to gutter politics, it is taking away everything we have, if you heard about the latest book they are placing in schools they are teaching the students that all Indians who came to Malaysia were Pariahs, so the present stock are all pariahs, the name of the book is interlok.

Think of the ridicule these children will have to go  through, they say Indians were pariahs in the book and that Chinese sold their daughters to become prostitutes, that will give the Malay Child the hey day he requires insult and look down on our children.

That is not what Malay children are made of, but this government teaches them and trains them to do such things. Just look at the group called perkasa.

Many a Jew and German looked the other side when Hitler did the same thing and they paid a price. Must we do what they did? History is a great teacher, we never should allow this. You are in Germany you should know this.

I'll have  none of this, why I am not copying my children which you did and I'd say is rather mischievous, is because they may join me, and that is playing politics, they'll know I was there, after I have gone there that they need to.

I have to do this for them, none of you'll understand this as you are not parents, so please lay off this, and believe me I know what I am doing and for what. There are no ulterior motives as some others may have.   Amen

It is for these same reasons that I have not written about the Bersih rally. If you must go to this rally there must be compelling reasons for you to be there, do not come there because everybody has asked you to do so, or because you can't say no to someone else.

I am going because I believe in the causes I have stated above, it is worth everything, I am 62 years old I have lived through it all, I have invested my life in this country, I have invested my children and grandchildren in this my motherland, it is the land where I'll spill my blood if it needs to be spilled saving the nation, and that is why I go, but I go in peace. this is a peaceful rally if it turns otherwise it is not us.

My grandchildren are real Bumiputeras, real sons of this country, my parents were from India just like Mahathir's, my beloved wife's parents are of Chinese origin, in fact my late father in law was born in this country, my maternal grandmother is buried in Kajang, my children are real Bangsa Malaysia, so too my grandchildren, and that is more reason why I go to walk tomorrow, to ensure that they are not robbed of their rights by manipulation of the ballot box.

If you believe your children, and their children are important to you, if you believe that all our children are important to us, and hope that they will live in a truly united Malaysia join me and walk, THE WALK OF PEACE.

God Bless Malaysia
